The downside first, when trying to put this into one of our cars, it is quite a tight fit, and needed a little “persuasion” to put it in the cigarette lighter hole, but once in, it worked well, we first attached one iPhone to the charger to see what would happen, I am not sure what we expected, we did not get a cup of tea or a can of cola out of it, just the charge for the phone, we then attached a second phone to it, and that worked as well, so we are well happy.We then tried it in another one of our cars and it went in perfectly well, but it would need to be taken out every time if we wanted to shut the flap that was the ash tray, or as well call it, the sweet wrapper dump, LOL.It has numbers on the top, which to be honest, is anyone really interested in, I know I am not, all I want to know is if the thing will charge the phones or not, it does have a rather nice blue light hue to it, which could be an issue if it were more in your face on the dashboard, thankfully ours are more further down so did not really affect us, the unit works, that really is all that matters, and it works quite well, with the only drawback being that it is quite bulky and might not fit a lot of cars that have a smaller space, but it is worth a go at £5.99.

The charger feels well made and solid with its aluminum casing.This does charge my devices pretty quickly, especially compared to older 1 amp car chargers I had before. I wasn’t able to verify the true charging wattage mostly due to lack of devices to verify it true peak current. But it’s not slow that’s for sure.I’m not a fan of it displaying the voltage from the car. To me it’s a bit of a gimmick that is just wasting power. I guess if you were to charge a device while the car is isn’t running it could be handy to keep a eye on but trutherly if your car battery is draining from charging a phone or tablet you possibly need a new car battery.

The charger comes with one charger lead only, so any additional phone will require you to remember to bring it’s own lead too.I tried it in my own car and my wife’s. It was a fairly snug fit in mine and a bit less so in hers, but the description (” fits perfectly into the car’s cigarette lighter socket without taking up space. It won’t wobble even when braking….” etc.) isn’t entirely accurate. The charger itself sits quite proud, so the assessment of taking up no space is a bit subjective and will vary according to the location of your cigar lighter. It’s true the charger doesn’t wobble, but still being slightly loose it’s likely to mean that over a period of time it will need to be pushed firmly down periodically, i.e. to maintain good contact in the cigar socket for power supply.A useful function is the blue LED light display of the car’s voltage and current, helpful to monitor battery condition and to insert your charger lead at night – but a possible distraction if that’s something that will bother you. Overall, it’s a useful gadget to have in the car and at £5.99 not a bad price.
