Replaced spots (12v) with these the size is about 1-2mm larger than the hole for the previous ones, and with the tilt feature on these the hole needs to be sufficient to not “snag”.Unfortunately i don’t have a hole cutter large enough in the 2 sets that I own (not that would of helped much as fitting to existing holes but in case your going to install new) you are likely therefore to need to “enlarge the hole a bit)On the plus side and one of the reasons I got these is that the square design overlaps sufficiently to allow you to get away with a ruff cut hole and still look perfect after. The securing design (fully sprung loaded clips on the left and right of the pivot point holds them to the ceiling very well and secure, but to get them folded in far enough to put through the hole in the first place is very tight, so much so I must have deformed one of the housings while doing it.The bulb is held in place using a sprung wire that loosely slots into two 3mm gaps aligned with the clips above, the gap between the bulb hitting the back and the slots is very tight as such the deformation I caused putting the frame in the hole above meant the bulb wouldn’t fully go in flush and I couldn’t then get the spring wire in place had to replace that housing. In hindsight it might have been better to have fully assembled the light fixture before then wiring that in and putting the whole assembly into the ceiling, but there would then be a risk that later trying to replace a bulb might have proved problematic if the casing was deformed enough that once the clip was removed you couldn’t get it back in, I am sure a bit of manipulation and you’d be able to fix this though.Once installed they look really good, and the tilt feature makes getting the correct light where you need it easier, I use 3 in a row by the sink, middle of room, over the bath / shower, can tilt the ones by the sink and bath to direct light better for using the mirror and deflect away from the eyes when using the bath.I jumped straight in and never checked for any install instructions, also never spotted any so unless there was one lot for all 10 there was definitely not any in each of the frame boxes, hence the score of 4 over 5

Hi, Can’t fault this product for cost , style and precision design but a few tips for installation. On all of the ones supplied to me, the earth wire linking to the bracket was loose and would not tighten. I added a washer to make it tight. Just me being careful. The recess hole required to cut through the plasterboard measures at 63mm. I cut my holes this size but this proved too small. Unluckily a standard hole saw is 63mm ( 2.5″) so you will need to increase the hole size all round by a couple of mm.The worst part, in my opinion, is the connector block for the wiring input. Most lighting is 1.5mm wire and if you are installing several downlights in a ring, you need to put two wires in each connector. It’s tight and the stiff cable makes it harder. The cover on this connector is held with a screw that also holds the mounting bracket. You will need to trim the cover edge to accommodate the power wires or the screw will not engage with the bracket. The cover, I’m guessing, is also used to clamp the power wires down tightly so don’t trim too much.If you bear these points in mind you will have a trouble free installation.

5 stars for price and unit amountunits installed neat and flush to the ceiling – tilt function great. The connective arm that connects to main chassis could be better as it’s a bit cheap wobbly – but it’s functional and out of sight
