I don’t own some of the more obscure card formats this reader accepts, but I do have SD, micro-SD and USB-A memory sticks. This reader was able to read all these straight away in a plug-and-play fashion from a Windows 10 PC.One slightly odd thing was that I seemed to get multiple drives showing up for each card or USB stick I inserted (see my picture). The USB stick does have two partitions on it (the “boot” and one other ext partition), so that explains one of these extra drives, but I was not sure all the others related to multiple partitions or whether, perhaps, this reader shows a “dummy” drive for each device as well as a drive for the main partition? That was a bit odd. But if you just ignore these extra drives you can copy data around to the drives that do contain your data without any problem.Note that the micro-SD card should be inserted “upside down”, the opposite way around from how the normal SD card is inserted. This seems to be quite common with these card readers. I assume the internal component used for reading both SD and micro-SD cards is a single piece of hardware and is just configured this way. The photo in the listing shows the micro-SD card going in the wrong way up.The combined USB-A and USB-C plug on the cable is a nice addition so you can use it with whatever sockets you have spare or convenient.

Standard USB-3 dongle supporting multiple memory cards, including 2 ports for USB memory sticks.I got this to read my ancient old CF cards from the dawn of digital photography.Unfortunatley, by the time I found my ancient old DSLR the vendor had discontinued this device !The CF card read just fine, a bit slow but I think that’s the CF not the dongle.Anyway, knocked of 2 stars for not being avilable.

This hub comes with 3x USB 3.0 Ports, and several card formats.I’ve only used the sdcard and micro sdcard ports which worked fine.I’m not into claimed spec checking, they were fast enough for me to be happy.The lead is just over 30cm and has a very neat USB 3 A connector fitted over the USB C one.I find it very useful when using my 14″ laptop.Although this was free to me for review, I would be prepared to pay the current asking price.

As we know, laptops these days have removed much of the significant functionality of yesteryear, such as multiple ports and disc-drives. This is a shame, for those of us with a hefty physical media collection who still would like the option to watch and listen to those via laptop. Naturally, there are a host of ways to get around this, such as USB hubs like this. This hub is small, sleek, and matches the colour of my main laptop. It drastically increases what I can do with my laptop and stops me from having to switch out one external device for another, meaning I can much more quickly and efficiently transfer files from one place to another. In truth, I mainly use this for the USB C transfers, but if you have old or current SD cards which you also want to navigate, this allows for a variety of types and sizes too. It all works well, all quickly recognised, and all of my transfers so far have been smooth.

First and foremost, I absolutely love that this dock can also read MS, XD and CF memory cards! Gives it a massive advantage over most USB docks out there!Additionally, it also has three USB ports along with the regular SD and microSD slots, hence has loads of ports!Moreover, it comes with a built in USB-C to USB-A adapter, hence can be used with both USB-C and USB-A devices! Which I find to be very cool!Overall, would definitely recommend!

Physical media cards are part of our tech gadgets and although they are on the decline (in favour of wireless alternatives), it’s great to have a good multi card reader that caters for the majority of the media card formats on the market.This is one of the better unbranded multi-card readers out there.As a bonus, this has three USB-A (3.0) slots, which is not often seen on other multi-card readers…. it would have been perfection if one of these three was a USB-C instead, but no complaints here.Although advertised as being able to read and write to 5 different cards at the same time, this is not a common practice – but if you do try, be aware that the whole unit will get quite hot and the transfer speeds will decline.
