   I bought this to attach to a Gear4 “HouseParty” boom box device which I used thus far with line in. The Gear4 has an iPod connector which was no use to me as I have no devices which fit it. The i-SYNC was a frivolous purchase looking to use an otherwise useless feature on something I already owned, I didn’t really need it. The killer feature for me is no need for a separate power supply. There are loads of BT accessories which require a separate DC supply or USB connection, or even worse a USB connection which won’t work when the device is on. The i-Sync does not suffer from this shortcoming so it scores highly on convenience.I am pleasantly surprised though. It connects really easily with two different Android phones and plays music without trouble. It’s hard to assess the sound quality because the Gear4 itself isn’t great, but with the volume cranked up to 30 (who needs 11?) it sounds pretty good. There were no technical problems at all and it works really well.This is a tiny little box – smaller than I had expected. I was concerned about it fitting in the available aperture around the iPod connector but this worry was unfounded. It’s really little and fits in easily.The downsides are minor but are worth knowing about:- there’s a flashing red/blue LED which is on quite a lot of the time, even when not in use and in my case at least, where the device it’s connected to is in standby. Fine, I covered it over with some black insulating tape and got over it.- the iSYNC will connect automatically to a phone maybe 50% of the time. The rest I have to select it in the phone menu and prompt it to connect. This is true for both phones I tried. It’s fine but the unpredictability makes it slightly less of a delight to use. This seems to be common with Bluetooth generally.- it’s not the cheapest. It’s reasonably priced, but there are cheaper and very similar alternatives. Of course, the quality may vary!Overall I’m very happy and would certainly by another one if I get another item with a proprietary iPod input.

   Full of hope for a great audio experience, I was disappointed when the i-SYNC remained dormant and failed to power up. Suspecting that my Bose Sound Dock portable must be an early model, incompatible with the device, I spoke to Bose who confirmed from its Serial No. that the Sound Dock portable is in fact compatible, for its charging is USB-based, rather than the earlier incompatible 1394 (Firewire) type.So why does it not work? No-one could answer that, but the Bose technical service agent advised that third-party Bluetooth devices are notoriously hit-and-miss, frequently refusing to perform, and that Bose felt unable to recommend any of them. Unfortunately, Bose themselves make no equivalent, and could offer no solution.As the item was purchased through Amazon, return for refund is not a problem. I shall try similar devices of other manufacture until, hopefully, I come up with one that delivers the goods.I shall post an addendum in the event of future success.UPDATE ADDENDUMThe manufacturers, Layen, posted a comment, stating that the i-SYNC IS indeed fully compatible with the Bose Sound Dock portable, so they presumed that they must have supplied a faulty unit. By that time however, an alternative had been ordered and the non-functioning item returned to Amazon. Layen’s comment and my response can be found in the ‘Comments’ link at the end of this review.The alternative I tried was an AZATOM Tune-Stream, but that would not fit into the iPod receptacle on the Sound Dock unless I removed a somewhat flimsy iPod Touch insert adapter – which I was not prepared to do regularly – so that was returned also.Finally I ended up with a Layen i-DOCK LAYEN i-DOCK – 30-pin Bluetooth Music Receiver Adapter – Stream music wirelessly from your device using Bluetooth v3.0 technology. For docking stations, Cars or Hi-fi systems. BOSE, Sony, Pure, Klipsch, Phillips, Bowers & Wilkins etc. Low introductory p… which performs faultlessly and will fit the Sound Dock portable, albeit with a bit of a push. Its performance is exemplary, and I have no doubt, virtually identical to the i-SYNC, had it not been faulty. Slightly larger than the i-SYNC, it had the advantage at the time of being substantially cheaper, but I recently observed that its price has since risen and both are now comparable.So, full marks to the i-DOCK, and doubtless, full marks to the i-SYNC, had it have worked as received.I therefore uprate from two stars to four – the lack of the fifth star is to reflect all the hassle the i-SYNC has caused by being ‘dead on arrival’.

   I purchased this product to use with a Klipsch iGroove iPod Speaker System (Dock). The iPod had died when my remaining iPhone 4S had died we no longer had a 30 pin device to use. As the Klipsch iGroove has a great sound this seemed like a waste. Sure I could have used a 30pin to lightning adapter and I have been using a 3.5mm plug to plug adapter successfully but neither is a neat solution and both were less functional than the original setup.The Layen i-Sync BT music receiver has given the Klipsch iGroove a new lease of life. I can still use the original remote to power the Klipsch on or off but now I have full remote control through an iPhone, iPad or any non-Apple bluetooth capable music player. The range and quality of playback is very good. The pairing was simple with both visual and audible indications of progress. There have been no dropouts and my non-technical wife finds it very easy to simply stream her playlists from her phone or iPad.This is really a very straightforward and value for money way to revive an old docking station and bring it up to date. It even looks the part as it’s discreet, sleek and black with a blue light. I hate throwing out good working tech. This upgrade is a must for any good quality 30pin iPod docking station. I have already recommended it to a friend who has a B&W Zeppelin.

   Werkt top

   Product zeer snel ontvangen. Lekker klein en mooi afgewerkt. Matzwart en antislip.In de verpakking zit zelfs een NL uitleg hoe je deze kan koppelen met je apparaat.Bij mij aangesloten op een Bose sounddock II, met 30 pins aansluiting.Zeer makkelijk te koppelen aan mijn iPhone 8 en het werkt uitstekend.Ik luister nu Spotify met mijn telefoon op afstand.Minpunten heb ik niet, maar als je het bose soundock in het stopcontact laat zitten dan moet je de ontvanger er wel uit halen, anders blijft het bluetooth lampje branden.Ben er erg blij mee.

   Impressive build quality, fit and finish. Worked perfectly. Extremely happy.

   I love this product! It’s truly a premium solution, with both form and function. It’s a UK company, and is worth the extra money (over the generic chinese bluetooth iPod dock adapters.)It worked on my Sony CMT-BX20i, which the generic, “Smof” branded one didn’t output any sound. The fit and finish is awesome. It feels like a quality product in the hands, has a nice matte black finish. It makes my stereo actually look better! The labelling (how it says Layen I-Sync) on it is tasteful and makes it clear to anyone what it is.It connected to my phone without a fuss (just have to know to hold the side button to get it to appear while pairing, read the manual) and has nice indicator beeps that aren’t intrusive to let you know the status of the device. The sound quality is crystal clear as far as I can tell, and I have no complaints ! Thanks so much for making this product and caring about making a good product, that actually works and looks good.

   Works a treat!

   I thought I was going to have to throw out my Bose dock or buy an adapter to suit my current phone, then change it when I upgrade. This is a fabulous solution and so easy to plug and play.

   Excellent item, took less than 5 minutes from plugging it in to working , sound quality is excellent and brought new life to a Bose Soundock 11, that was rarely used . Much more convenient using Bluetooth which connected first time and easy to use, than the old cable connector . Hope it keeps working for a long time
