This item was to fit a relatively old uPVC door (17 years old). After checking the dimentions of a lot of locks this one fit perfectly and was an identical replacement. These are riveted assemblies and are virtually imposible to open and mend. Mine had failed due to a small spring which operated the latch. There is no way I could have opened it even if I could have found a new spring. If yours is having problems just replace it.

Well this product had a 2 year test, and then it broke, and for a modern product, it did seem to outlast its warranty by a short while, and then broke. Sadly I would have expected better and at the same time it seems all moder product are designed to be a piece of junk and not last, yet my old yale one which also has a 1 year warrany lasted 18 years, so what can I say, economics do not make this door gearbox mechanism worth while, as it does not last.
