Is this a Thunderbolt cable?
No. This is a Mini DisplayPort (mDP) cable. It uses the same connector shape as Thunderbolt 1/2, so it works with Thunderbolt 1/2 computers for video, but not for Thunderbolt data or Thunderbolt Displays.
Will this work with a Thunderbolt display or iMac Target Display Mode?
No. It does not support Thunderbolt displays, Target Display Mode or Target Disk Mode.
Can I use this with a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 computer?
Yes. Thunderbolt 1/2 ports output Mini DisplayPort video signals. This cable will connect your Thunderbolt computer to a Mini DisplayPort monitor.

Utiliser un iMac comme écran d’un MacBook.
Curieusement ce Câble Mini Displayport vers Mini Displayport de 1 mètre est annoncé comme non compatible avec un iMac. Or le iMac (fin 2009) est doté d’un magnifique écran qui en mode cible peut devenir un écran d’un Mac Book Pro (milieu 2012), et ça marche !!! Le seul véritable problème est le suivant : 1 mètre, c’est un peu court si l’on veut permettre à un gaucher d’être à l’aise… Je conseille de prendre dès le départ un câble de 2 mètres et surtout de se rendre sur le site d’Apple pour connaître les manipulations (Pomme F2 ou pomme Fn F2) pour éventuellement remédier aux dysfonctionnements.

Ottimo tra Mac e display!
Premetto che ho comprato un display wacom interattivo che fin dal primo giorno mi ha fatto letteralmente piangere per quante volte si scollegava o funzionava a salti. Ho sempre avuto l’impressione che fosse il cavo mini display il problema, e quando si è praticamente tagliato ho comprato questo cavo, che in due secondi ha collegato senza un problema la tavoletta, senza sbalzi di corrente o problemi. Sulla robustezza non so mi sembra buono ma vi farò sapere più avanti in caso, per ora sembra essere l’ideale. Lo consiglio a tutti. =)
