Light, compact, quality bit of kit.Very light, can manipulate with just one hand, yet very sturdy. This is our 60kg Leonberger using the stairs to get in and out of a Volvo XC90. Have to say it’s a perfect fit, and I know two other Leonberger owners with the same steps and same or similar vehicles. The extra width over normal ramps and stairs is essential for big dogs, but is still only just enough for giant breeds, could do with an extra 10cm but there simply isn’t anything that wide out there.Attaches quickly and securely at the top with the sturdy metal clip, and the rubber grips on the “handles” at the top sit well into the car and do not slip. No give or flex as the dog climbs, and he’s happy with running up and down.Would I buy again? Absolutely, and have recommended and demonstrated it to fellow dog owners.

Perfect for large ( and small ) dogs
Extra Wide StepsWe bought this for our 13 year old lab who has mobility issues. Didn’t know how she’d take to them as all the other types we’ve tried are either to steep or slippy, but needn’t have worried. Because they are extra wide and they can stretch out to make them a gentle step up instead of a steep step, she managed them perfectly after a couple of goes. They are wide enough that there is plently of space for feet, even for a large brute of a dog like we’ve got, they are slightly ‘padded’ on the steps so she does slip going up. We put her on her lead and guided her up with myself at one side and my husband at the other, did this 3 or 4 times, then she gingerly went up without the lead on, now she waits patiently for them to be set up and she goes up them herself while I encourage her from the side of the steps, into the back (boot) of the car.They are easy to fold out and to fold up again. Wide steps, 2 handles at the top for stability and a clip to secure to the vehicle.Not heavy at all.We store them at the side of her bed in the boot when not in use. Plenty room for her and the steps.We have used a doggy seat belt attached to the rear of one of the back seats, feed it through to the boot and it clips onto the steps so they don’t fall over / move when driving.For some idea what kind of car height they’ll go up to, we have a BMW X5 which is very high at the boot and it fits that height no problem with them stretched right out. If you have anything higher they’d still manage, but the steps would be slightly steeper the higher you make them.One thing I will mention, the steps have a ‘clip’ that should hold the steps onto the car ( it clips onto the bit where the lock goes ), however, if you have a fold down boot lid, like the X5, pick-up, 4×4, you can’t use this to secure to the vehicle. In our case, I just put the top step and the handles of the steps, flat on top of the fold down bit of the boot and it works for us that way.Overall I am delighted with this product.PS small dogs love it too.
